CIFE congratulates the 26 construction industry professionals from Singapore who earned their VDC Certificate on April 20, 2017 at BCA Academy in Singapore!

A team of Stanford University School of Engineering graduate students served as judges at the Santa Clara County Construction Careers Association (S4CA) annual Student Project Exhibition in Construction, Architecture, and Engineering. S4CA is a non-profit organization that supports career pathways in the construction industry and has members from industry, education, government, and labor organizations that represent the construction workforce.

Following the theme, “The Built Environment:  Smart, Safe, Resilient,” each project included some aspect of resilient design, technology, safety, and environmental responsibility. The Stanford Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) award went to a team from Yerba Buena High School and their aquaponics entry. The aquaponics project exemplified creative design solutions, project scope ambition, innovative functionality, and environmental stewardship, earning itself Stanford’s CIFE award. Zuhair Haddad, of long-time CIFE member company CCC, has been awarded the prestigious Porter Award for leadership in innovation by FIATECH.

Over the years, Mr. Haddad has excelled at envisioning the future of technology in the construction field and set the standards for innovation and creativity. He was able to concretize his vision through commitment and dedication. By guiding people who had the privilege to work closely with him, providing those with insights and empowering them to innovate. This prestigious award proves that Mr. Haddad is an industry leader and great asset to the construction community world-wide.

Iro Armeni, PhD student working with Martin Fischer, has won a Goggle PhD fellowship in the area of Machine Perception, Speech Technology and Computer Vision. Google presents these award "to recognize and support outstanding graduate students doing exceptional research in Computer Science and related disciplines. Now in its eighth year, our fellowship program has supported hundreds of future faculty, industry researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs."

On March 23, Martin Fischer presented a keynote at the conference on “Productivity and Digitalization in the Construction Industry” hosted by CIFE member MT Højgaard at its headquarters in Søborg, Denmark. He presented the vision that “every workhour should build the right product safely and productively” and explained how VDC helps achieve that vision.

Today, March 15th, the book on Integrating Project Delivery written by Martin Fischer and Dean Reed and Atul Khanzode from CIFE member DPR and Howard Ashcraft from Hanson Bridgett was published by Wiley.
