Martin Fischer,
Director, CIFE & Kumagai Professor in the School of Engineering



Professor Fischer is the director of the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) at Stanford University. His research goals are to improve the productivity of project teams involved in designing, building, and operating facilities and to enhance the sustainability of the built environment. His work develops the theoretical foundations and applications for virtual design and construction (VDC). VDC methods support the design of a facility and its delivery process and help reduce the costs and maximize the value over its lifecycle. His research has been used by many small and large industrial government organizations around the world.



Niklas Modig

Niklas is the founder & CEO of  He is an author, Lean expert, entrepreneur and speaker.  His book "This Is Lean - Resolving the Efficiency Paradox" has sold over 300,000 copies in eighteen languages, making it one of the most sold lean books of all time.   He is one of the leading authorities within lean and operational excellence.  He has educated and trained hundreds of top-management teams all over the world and was a researcher and teacher at Stockholm School of Economics between 2003-2018.  Niklas has delivered more than 1000 speeches and keynotes in 40+ countries.


Alain Waha,

CTO Buro Happold Engineering, Co-founder Cogital


Alain is the Chief Technology Officer at Buro Happold.  Reporting to the CEO, he convenes the Technology Board and steers a number of technology initiatives including Digital & Industrialised Construction.  He is also co-founder of Cogital which specializes in Digital Transformation Strategy and Ventures incubation in #proptech and #buildtech.  Alain also sits on a number of VC and Digital advisory boards, including HS2 Digital advisory panel, the Construction Innovation Hub’s Digital Working group,,, Vu.City,, and the Building Ventures Investment network.  Alain joined the construction industry in 2008 after a career in Aerospace and Automotive.  In the AEC sector, he has held roles as CEO of VC backed venture Atlas Industries and Satellier inc.  His experience spans the AEC supply chain, across Europe, US and Asia.

Marzia Bolpagni,

Head of BIM International,  Associate Director at MACE

Marzia works as Head of BIM International at Mace where she develops and implements digital construction solutions for public and private clients in five international hubs. She holds a PhD in ICT and Smart Construction and she is passionate in filling the gap between industry and academia. She is glad to be a member of the BIMExcellence Initiative, Assistant Editor of the BIM Dictionary where she coordinates more than 120 volunteers worldwide, Ambassador of the UK BIMAlliance and Expert at the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) TC 442 where she chairs a Task Group on information requirements standardisation (Level of Information Need). She is lead author of the Level of Information Need standard EN 17412-1, Chair of EC3 Modelling and Standards Committee and Honorary Lecturer at UCL The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction. She is also founder of Italians in Digital Transformation Uk, she loves sharing her knowledge with students and she is often invited as keynote speaker at academic and industrial events. She received several awards for her activities including ‘Woman Ingenious’ in 2017, Star Award for Innovation and Service Excellence by Mace in 2019, and Young Engineer of the Year and Sir George Macfarlane Medal by the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2021.

Johnny Rimestad Sætre,

VDC Manager, VENI, Norway

Johnny’s ultimate objective is to contribute to a more sustainable AEC industry. Joining the industry in 2007, he was an early adaptor of advanced BIM use in structural design, only to realize technology alone wouldn’t solve the problems the industry was facing. He operates by leading a team who’s applying VDC at project execution.

Urs Huber,

fsp Achitekten AG, Switzerland

Urs is the founder of fsp Architekten AG.  He has been working in the construction industry as architect since 1995.  He has used BIM extensivley on his projects and is a certified VDC practitioner.

Roar Fosse,

Chief Advisor - Operational Excellence,  Skanska, Norway

An expert in Lean methodology, Roar has advised several teams on improving their project outcome through the use of the Last Planner System.  Previously heading the BIM department at Skanska, Norway, Roar has had experience working for a large gneral contractor as well as for a government owner / client.  He is a VDC mentor and has participated in several VDC certificate programs.  His current role is that of Chief advisor, Operational Excellence at Skanska, Norway.

Krzysztof Wojslaw,

Parametric Design and VDC Specialist, Sweco, Norway

Krzysztof is a bridge engineer, bloger and YouTuber.  He has  worked on the first bridge in Norway which was built without use of drawings.  He is highly interested in new technologies, modern design methods and digital innovations in the AEC industry.  Krzysztof currently works as a parametric design specialist at the bridge department in Sweco, Norway.  He is an international speaker and has won several awards, including the EFCA Future Leaders Award 2021.

Simon Dilhas,

Abstract AG, Switzerland

Simon Dilhas is the co-founder and CEO of Abstract AG. His experience in the AEC industry covers diverse perspectives - as an architect, he worked on large-scale projects, as a client representative, he controlled project execution, and as a project manager for a design-build company, he took responsibility for complex building and digital projects.  He combines all these experiences to provide digital tools that enable clients to design, simulate and build with peace of mind.


Anne Nyffeler,

PIRMIN JUNG, Switzerland


Trained as an architectural drafter, Anne studied architecture and virtual design and construction.  She has worked as an architect, project manager, construction supervisor, trainer and lecturer.  Currently working at PIRMIN JUNG, an engineering company for timber construction as VDC implementation manager, Anne is passionate about team work in the creation of high performance buildings.

Tulika Majumdar,

CIFE, Stanford University, USA

Tulika Majumdar is a Ph.D. candidate at Stanford University, focusing on the management of AEC projects using metrics.  She has been supporting the VDC certificate programs (both large scale and individual programs) conducted by SCPD, PPI and CIFE since 2018.  Through these programs she has followed the journeys of over 400 VDC implementations in Europe and Latin America.  Tulika has worked in the industry as a consultant and project manager representing owners and contractors in the United States, India and Australia.  

Daniel Bührer,

CEO, 3-Plan AG, Switzerland

Daniel Bührer is co-owner and managing director of 3-Plan Haustechnik AG in Winterthur. He originally completed an apprenticeship as a heating draftsman, followed by further education to become a Dipl. Gebäudetechnik Klima HF.  Afterwards he completed the KMU Intensive Studies at the HSG and the MAS Digital Building at the FHNW.  With this background he is responsible for the digital transformation and further development in the company at 3-Plan, in addition to operational management.

Grete Aspelund,

Grete has been heading Sweco Norway since January 2016. Sweco is the number one engineering consultancy in Europe with 18,000 employees.  Grete has had several CEO positions within consulting and TIC industry.  She also holds several board positions.  Grete holds a Masters degree in Social Science from the University of Oslo, and has had management education from BI business school.

Matthias Jacob,

Dr. Matthias Jacob is the Managing Director of Implenia Building Construction, Germany and a member of the Implenia Executive Committee. After his studies,   promotion and university job at TU Dortmund university, he has been active in the construction industry since 1987. He worked in various management positions, e.g. from 2007 to 2010 as Chairman of the Management Board of Bilfinger Hochbau GmbH and from 2011 to 2017 as the Technical Managing Director of Wolff & Müller Holding GmbH & Co KG.
In particular, he stands up for buildings quality in planning, implementation and operation as well as for interdisciplinary exchange for quality optimization in projects.

For more than 15 years, Dr. Jacob has engaged extensively with aspects of sustainability of buildings. He favors step-by-step process optimization to increase efficiency in the construction industry (lean management) and in particular the introduction and further development of BIM.

Matthias Jacob is Technical Vice President of the Federation of German Construction Industry (HdB) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the German Concrete and Construction Engineering Association (DBV) as well as Deputy Chairman of them Supervisory Board of “planen-bauen 4.0”. In addition to his engagement at the University of Wuppertal, he is also a member of the ZIA Presidium.

Per Löfgren has worked with business development for the past 20 years. Today, he works as Head of Sustainability at Tyréns, an independent engineering and design consultancy group in the fields of urban development and infrastructure in northern Europe. With a broad background from different companies in the construction industry, Per has always been guided by the belief that creating shared values to the company stakeholders will always benefit both the businesses and society at large.

Kristin Lysebo,

Kristin has more than 30 years of experience in infrastructure design and as a training manager for infrastructure software.  As a BIM manager for the last 7 years, Kristin is responsible for implementing and developing BIM in Bane NOR, the public owner for railway in Norway.
