As expected, the discussion about Official Strategies / Guidelines // Rules / Regulations category (introduced in June) increased 10% in July (from 8.8% in June to 9.7%). The most important June milestone was the first-ever published WELL certification for buildings to address a post COVID-19 environment. [271] Other organizations are following the International WELL Building Institute, such as RESET® [272] (a hardware and building operation certification) that announced in July advances in sensor-driven index optimizing indoor environments against airborne viral infections [273]. The community suggests that standards for building operations are required going forward as current guidance from official institutions such as ASHRAE are not sustainable [270]. RESET® standard should be available to the public in the following months after peer review.

The official guidelines in the US (from e.g., CDC, OSHA) have been backed up by temporary 6 monthlong standards enacted by specific states [255]. Based on the guidelines and temporary standards, OSHA is inspecting COVID-19 jobsite violations. [197]

Cybersecurity and privacy issues call for more regulations and consumer protections (such as California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA): on July 1 the Attorney General began enforcing CCPA meant to give consumers greater control over how businesses use their personal information [378]).
