Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum: “The pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and reset our world.”[593] “The pandemic has been a catalyst for further change and is bringing about investments in technology, people, and process. […] the optimism is about more than innovation; it’s about a new mindset toward change in general. Many recognize the pandemic as a spur for beneficial change that had been too long in coming: “People are starting to understand, so this is going to stay. This is exciting to force people outside their comfort zone.” Yet for all that people may have had their complacency disrupted, they’re already in a new comfort zone: “It feels natural.”(reproduced from ViaTechnik survey report [142]).

The frequency of such silver lining examples in publications and webinars, have substantially decreased in June; 65% since May. All above listed potential May reasons could be the cause. Nevertheless, as we see the drop in silver lining discussions, we can also observe an outstanding increase of industry actually taking this crisis as a business opportunity. People are less talking about the silver lining opportunities and rather working on them more. Service providers in digital technologies are currently leading in this effort.
