Categorization Scheme 1 - Quality

Represent the overall quality of the work being done, indicated by the ratio between errors detected and work completed.

  • Number of accidents/ work hours: This measures and tracks the total number of incidents that occur on a project. By reducing this number and making sure that the project site is safe, resources otherwise spent on recovery and insurance can be saved.
  • Clashes unresolved/ clashes detected:  Resolving clashes in a timely manner is imperative to running a successful project. Measuring the number of clashes that are unresolved out of all the clashes that are detected will help improve accuracy of work and reduce coordination errors.
  • Issues reported/ facility usage: This measures the total number of operations and maintenance issues reported by the occupants and users of the facility. This gives an indication of the quality of the facility as experienced by the end-users.
  • Rework hours/ total work hours: Producing work with the least amount of rework reflects the good quality of work produced. Tracking the labor hours spent doing rework helps bring attention to and improving the quality of work.
  • Outstanding RFIs/ total RFIs: Measuring the total number of outstanding RFIs that await a response out of the total number of RFIs gives an idea of additional time contingencies in the schedule to account for RFIs.
  • Cost of change orders/ cost of work performed: This metric reflects the ratio between cost for change orders and the total value of work being performed. It represents the portion of cost spent on changes or rework per the value gained.
